A paradise on the southeast coast of Mallorca
Cala Santanyi is located in the southeast, or what the Mallorcans call the “Migjorn” zone, which means something like “south wind” or “south”. Santanyi
The town of Santanyi and a varied gastronomy
Cala de Santanyi is less than 10 minutes away by car, making it the perfect combination outside of Santanyi close to the sea, but still enjoying the advantages of the town. Santanyi is always worth a visit, with its well-preserved old town, with small streets and many boutiques. Strolling through the streets of Santanyi often turns into a little shopping tour through the many boutiques with interesting products (both international and local products, such as textiles, decoration, gourmet…). After all the walking you can then choose one of the delicious restaurants (where you have a lot of variety), and first eat something in peace or drink a “Cafe con Leche” or “Carajillo”.

Picturesque atmosphere in the old town and its history
The picturesque streets in the old town of Santanyi are dotted with beautiful houses and town palaces, with natural stone cladding and large wooden doors in typical Mallorcan style. Scattered throughout the streets you will also come across traces of Bronze Age megaliths.
The church “Sant Andreu Apostol” was built in the 18th century by the master builder Antonio Mesquida. As you enter the interior, you will immediately notice the beautiful organ that stands here. This was handcrafted by Jordi Boschs, who was the organ builder for the Spanish crown.

The main plaza, the Plaza Mayor, is also home to the old town hall building and the 14th century Chapel of the Rosary.
The Porta Murada in Santanyi
The old town fortifications of Santanyi are still partially preserved today, and tell many storybook tales of pirate attacks and the history of Santanyi (which also explains a lot about the construction of the harbor and bays such as Cala Santanyí).
Cala Santanyi
The beautiful beach of Cala Santanyi
Cala Santanyi (the beach of the same name as the resort of Cala Santanyí) is a bay overgrown with palm trees and pine trees, with a 130 meter long sandy beach. Fine sand and crystal-clear blue water characterize this natural beach, making it the perfect bathing spot. A perfect place to relax with friends and family, or to enjoy some water sports such as snorkeling and diving to explore the underwater world. Also “Paddle Surf” becomes the last years more and more popular in the subject of water sports. This beach is also a culinary surprise, as there is not just one beach bar or beach bar here (we mean the typical ones where there is only a few water ice or cheese sandwiches, of course there are also mega beach bars with top cuisine on Mallorca! Hostal Playa in particular is famous for its “fideua” (the pasta version of paella), which we can personally recommend (especially in spring/early summer, it’s a great way to relax and enjoy a glass of white wine right on the beach in Cala Santanyi).
Fine sand and crystal clear blue water
Beach volleyball and pedalos are also popular on this beach, which gives the whole place a great vacation atmosphere. In addition, the beach itself is known for being very clean and placing a high value on the environment (it is also marked with a blue flag).

From Palma and the airport you can get to Santanyi and Cala de Santanyi within 45 minutes (a distance of about 56km), you just have to drive south on the highways Ma-10 and Ma-19, where you will pass Llucmajor and Campos. If you want to get to the village by boat, you can either anchor on the beach in the deep water or go to the nearest harbor, which would be Cala Figuera.
Restaurants in Cala Santanyi
There are several beach bars, restaurants and cafeterias in Cala Santanyi. Family-friendly beach food as well as local dishes are on offer. Hamburgers, fish and chips, paella, tortilla or fideua. As already mentioned, we recommend the restaurant “Hostal Playa” which is located right next to the beach.
Many restaurants also offer take-away food, so you can also eat directly on the beach for a romantic beach picnic. The small supermarkets are also perfect for this.
If you are looking for upscale restaurants with international cuisine, we recommend a short trip to Santanyi.

Es Pontás
A real hotspot for influencers and vacation hobby videographers, and just 10 minutes from the center of Cala Santanyí. Es pontàs means something like “gateway to the sea” and is located on the coastline of Santanyi, between Cala Santanyi and Cala Llombards. The natural stone bridge is located directly in the sea, and was formed by the slow wear and tear of the waves, the wind and the weather and the coast.
