Tapas Palma, the best locations in Mallorca
Our tapas favorites in Mallorca
Tapas are an elementary part of the Mallorcan and Spanish food culture. They belong to the island like the sea, the sun and the beach…. The origin of these little delicacies is actually is not very clear, but actually there is much talk that it had its origin in Andalusia.
History of tapas
In the 18th century, under the reign of Alfonso X, they began to serve some small dishes and bites with the wine, so that people could drink more wine and better tolerate it. In addition, the “tapa” (the small plate with food) served to protect the glass of wine from flies, since it could be covered with it. So says the legend, but there are other variants about the origin of tapas.

Conclusion about tapas in Mallorca
Many other bars and restaurants offer delicious tapas and good wine. Just try out some locations and see what they like. There are the upscale tapas restaurants with always new creations, or the typical bars with the traditional tapas where you can try them cheaply.
We personally love to eat homemade tapas with family recipes in traditional bars (like in Felanitx Ca Nusola, Can Felia, Sabeurador, Bar Cristal..), where you should not expect a great presentation, with many small plates, but simply a bowl of delicious Hausmansgerichte!
