The history of Santa Ponsa

It is believed that the colonization of Mallorca began here in the “Costa de la calma” (about 6,000 years ago). There are Talajotic settlements that are the remains of these first islanders. These buildings were small circular constructions, the ancestors, so to speak, of the many villas and fincas that have since been built in the area and which make up the interesting real estate market.

Furthermore, in Santa Ponsa, in 1929, King Jaume I was breached on the coast, on which a large cross was erected with the name “Creu de la conquesta”.

Santa Ponsa

The town of Santa Ponsa has around 12,000 inhabitants and is one of the most popular areas of the municipality of Calvia. The neighboring towns are Paguera and Nova Santa Ponsa.

There is plenty to do here, especially for sports enthusiasts. Golf is very important in Santa Ponsa, for example, with a total of 3 top golf courses (although the names were not chosen very creatively; Golf Santa Ponsa I, II & III).
