The port of Cala d’Or
3 secret tips in the marina of Cala dor
Surely you have heard of Cala d’Or? Or probably you have even been there yourself? Whether it’s one or the other, we have 3 “secret” tips here if you’re next walking around the harbor in Cala d’Or again.
Cala d’Or belongs to the municipality of Santanyi, and is geographically very close to Portocolom and Cala Figuera. The “Ibizan” city is often called so because of the architectural style of its houses (there are even regulations from the town hall for the building style in this city). The houses are not too high, mostly have flat roofs and are always white.
In Cala d’Or there are many restaurants, cafeterias and stores that invite you to stroll through the alleys…. It is very popular among tourists to vacation here, as Cala d’Or also has several beaches, many hotels and a lively nightlife. Our three recommendations:
Restaurant Sa Llotja
The modern restaurant offers a fantastic view over the marina of Cala d’Or. Especially at sunset you can enjoy the view over the harbor with its many lights of stores, houses and boats, and the orange-purple reflection of the setting sun on the water.
The dishes are a good mix of modern cuisine and local and typical ingredients from the region. Fish, meat and vegetables are always freshly purchased and of top quality. The service is also unbeatable, the waiters are very attentive, there is never a sip of wine missing from the glass, and the operators/owners are often up for a nice chat.
The modern and youthful place very close to Sa Llotja also offers a breathtaking view over the harbor in Cala d’Or. However, here usually a DJ plays chill house music, man has a wide selection of drinks and cocktails, and one or the other eye-catcher in the decoration.
A slightly typical Mallorcan port restaurant in the first line, with a nice service and lots of goodies. Especially the fish is recommended here with many typical mallorquin dishes like the “Gall am ceba” (just ask the waiters, say hello from us!).
We’ve been to these different places at the port in Cala d’Or several times ourselves, but there are many other great stores and places to eat at the marina. Which is your favorite restaurant in Cala d’Or?
