Start your journey of discovery at the impressive Plaza Mayor, or directly in the center of Palma at Plaza Espa\u00f1a (next to the “Parc de las estaciones”). You will love strolling through Palma between Gothic churches, picturesque squares and centuries-old courtyards.\r\n

Architectural masterpieces in the old town<\/h3>\r\n

La Seu Cathedral<\/h4>\r\nThe large Gothic-style cathedral was built directly on the waterfront in the city of Palma, just behind the high city walls that served to protect the city from pirates and other dangers.\r\n\r\nThe building was begun in 1229, after the conquest of Mallorca by the Arag\u00f3n kingdom under King Jaime I. The cathedral is 6,655 m2 in size and the highest point is 45 meters. In 1931, the cathedral was declared a historical monument. Finally, in 1346, the cathedral was considered “completed” by King Jaime III (even though further completions were made afterwards).\r\n\r\nThe Parc de la mar also belongs to the cathedral and is well worth a leisurely stroll.\r\n\r\nYou can choose from several options to visit the cathedral and the price ranges from 4\u20ac – 25\u20ac.\r\n

The Es Baluard Museum<\/h4>\r\nConceptual and modern art, in the historic district of the city. The museum was opened in 2004 and offers over 700 works of art for visitors.\r\n

The Almudaina Palace<\/h4>\r\nMainly used as a museum nowadays, it used to be a royal palace from the XIV century. The palace also serves as a place to stay when the royal family is in Palma. Admission is from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 – 17:00 (open until 18:00). If you want to come in for free, you can do so on Wednesday or Sunday between 15:00-17:00.\r\n

The Jewish Quarter<\/h4>\r\n

The typical Mallorcan manor houses<\/h4>\r\nThere are many old mansions scattered around the old town of Palma, where you can still peek into the beautiful traditional patios through the entrance gate, and in some cases you can even go inside and marvel at the architectural beauty (always ask or check if there is a sign granting access…).\r\n

The Passeig des Born<\/h4>\r\nPerfect for shopping with a beautiful large plaza in the center. There are many top restaurants, caf\u00e9s and stores here. There is a great variety. Stores like Louis Vuitton, Phillip Plein, Rouge Mallorca, Rolex… but also more normal brands like Zara and Massimo Duti can be found here.\r\n\r\n \r\n
